Abstract

603147 An internal combustion engine (1) is disclosed comprising a piston (101), a crankshaft (110) and a connecting rod assembly. The connecting rod assembly comprises a piston connecting rod (102) pivotally connected at one end to the piston (101) and a crankshaft connecting rod (103) pivotally connected at one end to the piston connecting rod (102) and at another end to the crankshaft (110). The engine also comprises a slipper plate (104) between the crankshaft (110) and the piston (101) configured to direct movement of the connecting rod joint (111). The slipper plate (104) can be adjusted during use about a pivot point (106) which is positioned substantially inline between the connecting rod joint (111) and the crank shaft pivot point.
