Abstract

600154 Disclosed is a process for processing finely divided material produced during a metallurgical process. The finely divided material is dust generated during steel production when using an electric arc furnace. The process comprises continuous washing. A first portion of granules are washed continuously by movement of the granules through a wash solution by an axial screw (3) driven by a motor (4). The suspended solids content of the solution increases as a result of washing the granules. The washing of the granules takes place in a vessel (2) comprising a second portion of granules. The second portion of granules which are completely submerged by the wash solution are provided to reduce the suspended solids content of the solution. The first and second portions of granules are continuously removed from the vessel (2) and replenished with fresh portions of granules for processing.
