Abstract

A method for recarburising a molten ferro-alloy in a ladle or ladle furnace comprises the step of adding a carbon-containing polymer to the ladle or furnace, wherein the polymer is adapted to function as a recarburiser of the ferro-alloy. In this regard, the polymer can have a format which, when it contacts the molten ferro-alloy, promotes dissolution of carbon from the polymer into the molten ferro-alloy.
