Abstract
A method of producing a polypeptide in an ungulate, the method comprising: forming a nuclear transfer embryo by translocating an ungulate nonembryonic cell, or a nucleus thereof, into an enucleated oocyte obtained from the same species as the ungulate nonembryonic cell, wherein said ungulate nonembryonic cell is, or is obtained by culture of, a cell comprising a DNA sequence that encodes said polypeptide operably linked to a milk protein promoter, wherein said ungulate expresses said DNA sequence and produces said polypeptide in milk, blood, serum, or plasma in detectable qualities. Also disclosed is a method of obtaining said polypeptide, wherein polypeptide produced as above is isolated from the milk, blood, serum, or plasma of said ungulate. Said method of producing a polypeptide is useful in that it can be produced from any precursor cell.
