Abstract

Described is an aspect of an artificial ventilation system for administering and exhausting gases to a mammal. The assembly comprises a respiratory conduit and a proximal terminal, wherein the distal end of the conduit is connectable to and detachable from the proximal terminal. The proximal terminal is comprised of a coaxial tube device in which the inner and outer tubes are attachable to the conduit simultaneously. The proximal terminal is shown in FIG. 1, in which there are four ports, an inspiratory port 62, an expiratory port 64, a first respiratory port 66 and a second respiratory port 68, to facilitate independent connections to a source of inspiratory gas and a expiratory outlet. The respiratory conduit is shown as FIG. 2, comprised of a coaxial tube device in which the inner pipe 134 and outer pipe 136 are attachable to the second respiratory port 68 and first respiratory port 66 of the proximal terminal, or connection to a filter device.
