Abstract

In a Very high bit rate Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL) system, a separate frequency range is used for either transmission direction. The frequency band of the transmission line is divided into sub-bands limited by the international amateur radio frequency bands AB1 - AB6. For each band to be used there is a carrier wave with its own modulator. The bits of the bit stream are divided among the sub-bands, so that each carrier is modulated with some of the bits, wherein each carrier reserves on the corresponding sub-band a frequency range which can be chosen independently from other carriers.
