Abstract

A mounting platform, e.g. vanity top 12 and mounting plate 18, having provision for mounting of one or more water supply fittings (tap 14), is claimed. The area of the mounting platform immediately adjacent the external intersection of each water supply fitting and mounting platform protrudes (protrusion 13) from the main plane of the mounting platform so as to at least partially contain the water supply fitting and is profiled such that water running over the external water supply fitting/mounting platform protrusion intersection will tend to be evacuated from the intersection by gravity. The protruding part forms an obtuse angle at its intersection 27 with the immediately surrounding area of the mounting platform when viewed in longitudinal section through the protrusion. The intersection 27 exhibits a radius of at least four millimeters.
