Abstract

Power is supplied from a source of AC power 1101 to the primary conductors of an inductive power transfer system having at least one tuned primary trackway 1102 via reactive networks 1001, 1105. The primary trackway or trackways each have an inherent resonant frequency and the reactive networks are connected between the power source and the trackways. The respective inductance and capacitance of the reactive networks is selected to affect the transfer of power between the power source and the trackways. The reactances may be chosen to be resonant at the inherent resonant frequency of the associated trackway or may be chosen to be deliberately mismatched to provide voltage transformation between the power supply and the trackway.
