This invention relates to a sales pack containing razors, more particular razors of the disposable 5 type. Such razors are commonly made of plastics and comprise a head containing one or more blades and a handle integral with or connected to the head, the whole razor being generally of T shape.
The pack to which the invention relates is intended for display and/or transport purposes and in particular to hold together a number of razors, for example five, in a stack and suspend the razors from the prong or arm of a display rack.
According to one aspect of the present invention there is provided a sales pack made of card or other relatively stiff sheet material which has been cut, 20 folded and/or positioned, and secured in the shape of an envelope having a plurality of panels each of which is connected along its opposite edges to an adjacent panel, and a tongue extending away from one of the panels, the tongue being connected to said one of the 25 panels along a line parallel to at least one of said edges, the tongue providing means by which the pack

can readily be carried, or suspended from an arm of a display rack, the pack containing the heads of a stack of razors disposed parallel to one another and one panel of the pack remote from said tongue having a rectangular slot therein extending transversely of said heads and through which the handles of the stack of razors extend whilst the portion of the panel surrounding the rectangular slot serves to suoport the heads of the razors when the pack is suspended from said tongue.
According to another aspect, the present invention provides a sales pack containing razors which comprises a box defined by panels of card or other relatively stiff sheet material and shaped to surround a stack of razor heads on at least four sides thereof, one of the panels having a slot therein through which the handles of the razors project, the slot being a rectangular slot shaped to fit closely around tne stack of razor handles extending through the slot, and the heads of the razors being closely confined between the surrounding panels.
Possible constructions of a pack in accordance with the invention will now be described by way of example only with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:-

Fig. 1 is a plan view of a card blank from which the pack can be formed;
Fig. 2 is a plan view of a modification of the card blank of Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a side view of the pack folded from the card blank of Fig. 1 and containing a stack of razors, and
Fig. 4 is an end view of the pack shown in Fig.
3.
The pack is formed from a generally rectangular card blank 10 which has an elongated slot 11 extending across the width of the card approximately midway between the enas of the card. This slot stops short of the sides of the card. The width of the slot 11 is such as to accommodate the width of one razor blade handle and the length of the slot is such as to accommodate the handles
of the stack of razors which the pack is to contain. Slots 12, 12' are also formed adjacent the opposite ends of the blank to receive an arm of a display stand, on which packs will hang.
The blank 10 is divided into panels by crease lines 1,3-Lg, extending across the blank to enable the blank to be folded to the shape of a box. Two opposite end panels of the blank are upstanding from the box and secured in face-to-face relationship to form a tongue 15 so that the hanging slots 12, 12' of these panels register with one another to receive the arm of the display rack.
The panel P^ which contains the slot 11 through which razor handles extend has, at its opposite ends, two flaps 13, 14 which can be folded about crease lines L5, Lg, L51, Lg 1 to close the ends of the box.
Considering now the steps of assembly of the pack, a group of (for example) five razors are brought together in a stack with the front of each razor, except the front one of the stack, in contact with the back of the next adjacent razor. The handles of the assembled stack, which extend parallel to each other, are passed through the slot 11 of the handle-receiving panel until the underside of the head of each razor rests on this panel.
The panels P2, P21 next adjacent the handle-receiving panel P^ are then folded about crease lines L2/ 1^' to stand perpendicular to the panel P^ to form sides of the
1 989
box adjacent the opposite ends of the head of each razor. Panels P5, P^' of the flaps 13, 14 are likewise folded about crease lines L5, 1,5' to stand perpendicular to panel Pj to form the ends of the box. The next adjacent panels Pg, Pg1 of the flaps are folded down about lines Lg, Lg1 and then P3, Pj1 are folded down about lines L3, L31 toward the razor heads. At the same time as P3, P31 are folded down, the remaining two panels P4, P^1 are folded in the opposite sense about lines L4, l4' until they come together in face-to-face relationship. The box can be secured in a closed state by adhesive on one or both of the adjoining faces of the panels P4, P41 or by stapling.
Although the blank has been described and illustrated in a form in which the panels are symmetrical about a central handle-receiving panel, other arrangements are possible in which the outermost panels are not those containing the hanging slots. In each case however adhesive or other means will be provided for causing the outermost panels to be secured to the remainder of the box.
The portions of panel P-^ which lie at opposite ends of the handle-receiving slot 11 must be of sufficient width to give the necessary strength to the handle-receiving panel.
If it is desired that the razors should be provided with travel caps to cover the blades, or if it is thought that there is no need to close the ends of the box, the
6

flaps can be omitted as shown in the blank of Fig. 2. This blank, when folded, will provide an open-ended box.
As a further alternative, only one flap is provided. This flap, when folded, will cover the otherwise exposed blade or blades of the first razor. The opposite end of the box is open since only the back of the last razor head will be exposed.
Although the pack folded from the blank of Fig. 1 is designed to allow razors to be transported without travel caps, such travel caps can be provided if desired.
The slots 12 which are provided to enable the packs to be hung from a rack can be omitted if the packs are to be displayed in other ways.
To enable the pack to be used as a dispenser, the flap 14 and the portion of the card between slot 11 and the flap can be torn off to leave the end of slot 11 open. The razors can then be dispensed individually from the pack through the open end of slot 11. To assist in tearing open the slot, rows of perforations can be provided between the ends of the

long sides of slot 11 and the line 1,5' and outwardly along line 1^*.
In an alternative embodiment, the upper part of 5 panel P^ could be omitted and the remainder of panel P4' could be secured either to panel P4 or directly to panel P3.
Although reference has been made herein to a card 10 blank, tne blank could be made from other materials than card, e.g. thin metal sheeting or relatively stiff plastics sheeting.
