Abstract
Fremgangsmåte som innebærer fjerning av hydrokarboner, arsen og kvikksølv fra spillvann produsert på olje- og gassfelt. En oksidant, jernioner og et flokkuleringsmiddel tilsettes sekvensielt i spillvannet for å danne et flyttbart slam inneholdende de forurensende forbindelsene arsen, hydrokarbon og kvikksølv. Redokspotensialet i spillvannet kontrolleres ved tilsetning av oksidasjonsmiddel for å tillate den nødvendige arsenoksidasjonen å finne sted samtidig som kvikksølvet opprettholdes i elementær form. Fremgangsmåten krever relativt korte oppholdstider mellom de kjemiske tilsetningene og tillater store gjennomstrømninger av spillvann. Det rensede spillvannet er egnet til utslipp i miljøet.
