Abstract

Fremgangsmåter, apparatur og systemer for adaptiv forforvrengning av signaler på digital form før disse sendes ut fra en sender (12, 14, 16, 18). Forforvreng- ningen korrigerer innførte ulineariteter ved at statistisk informasjon tas ut fra de mottatte signaler i en mottaker (24) og sendes tilbake til senderen via en returkontrollkanal. Signalbehandlingen innbefatter såkalt konstellasjonsanalyse hvor signalets f orvrengningskarakteristikk bestemmes, og korreksjonen går inn på blant annet forspenninger, forsterknings- ubalanse, låse- og kvadraturvinkelfeil og ulineær forvrengning av typen omvandling AM-AM og AM-FM. Disse forvrengnings- og forstyrrelsesarter kan ligge både i sen- deren, mottakeren og i mediet mellom dem. Ut fra analysen reguleres parametere i senderen eller mottakeren eller i begge. Posisjonen av bestemte signalsymboler i den utsendte signalkonstellasjon korri- geres derved på forhånd slik at signal- kvaliteten i mottakeren blir best mulig.Methods, apparatus and systems for adaptive distortion of signals in digital form before they are emitted from a transmitter (12, 14, 16, 18). The distortion corrects introduced nonlinearities by extracting statistical information from the received signals in a receiver (24) and sending it back to the transmitter via a return control channel. The signal processing includes so-called constellation analysis in which the signal distortion characteristic is determined, and the correction includes bias, gain imbalance, lock and quadrature angle errors and non-linear distortion of the type AM-AM and AM-FM. These distortion and disturbance types can lie both in the transmitter, the receiver and in the medium between them. Based on the analysis, parameters are regulated in the transmitter or receiver or in both. The position of certain signal symbols in the transmitted signal constellation is thereby corrected in advance so that the signal quality in the receiver is as good as possible.
