Kilden utmåler korte, optiske pulser med liten dirring og lav puls-sokkeldel, og er passende for anvendelse for eksempel i et bredbåndet, optisk nettverk som drives med høye bithastigheter på 100Gbit/s eller mer, eller i en optisk forbindelseskopling.
