Et system for overvåking av objekter omfattende i det minste et overordnet overvåkingsmiddel (28) og en anordning for overvåking av objekter (30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44) og/eller flyt av informasjon. Anordningen omfatter i det minste to agentenheter (10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24) som er sammenknyt- tet i et nettverk (26) og sender meldinger til det overordnede overvåkingsmiddel, enten på anmodning eller på eget initiativ, vedrørende objekter knyttet dertil. I det minste en agentenhet omfatter i det minste en overvåkingsport for tilkobling til et ob- jekt. En gruppeaksessport (46) er felles for alle agentenheter i anordningen og er koblet til det overordnede overvåkingsmiddel for kommunikasjon mel- lom overvåkingsmiddelet og agentenhetene.
