Abstract

Foreliggende oppfinnelse omhandler en fremgangsmåte for å hemme bakterier i å adhere til en senkbar overflate. Fremgangsmåten omfatter påføring på den senkbare overflaten av en effektiv menge av minst en N-alkylheterosyklisk forbindelse for å hemme bakteriell adhesjon til den senkbare overflaten. Foreliggende oppfinnelse omfatter også en fremgangsmåte for å kontrollere begroing av et vandig system. Denne fremgangsmåten tilsetter en effektiv mengde av minst en N-alkylheterosyklisk forbindelse for å hemme bakterier i å adhere til en senket overflate i det vandige systemet. Denne metoden sørger for en effektiv kontroll av begroing, uten i det vesentlige å drepe de forurensende organismene. Den N-alkylheterosykliske forbindelsen anvendt i oppfinnelsens fremgangsmåte innehar formelen (I). Substituenten R1 er C8-C20 alkylgruppe. Den heterosykliske ringen er en 5-8-leddet heterosyklisk ring, hvor X er O, NH eller CH2. R2 er metyl, hydroksymetyl eller hydroksyetyl. Heltallet n varierer fra O til 3. Den foreliggende oppfinnelsen omhandler også en blanding som inneholder N- alkylheterosykliske forbindelser og er anvendelig i de ovenfor nevnte : fremgangsmåter.
