Abstract

En styrbar boreenhet (l) for monter- ing på enden av en borestreng (11) tjener til å bore et horisontalt bore- hull (2) i en undergrunnsformasjon (3). Boreenheten omfatter en slammotor (12) og borkrone (4) drevet av slammotoren, og har en rotasjonsakse som danner en vinkel med aksen til boreenheten, såvel som en selvdreven drivenhet (8) for å drive boreenheten hovedsakelig i trans- lasjon i formasjonen og å utøve det nødvendige press på borekronen for bor- ingen, hvor drivenheten er utstyrt med drevne hjul (15) som blir presset mot veggen i borehullet av slamtrykket, og som trekkes fri fra borehullveggen når trykket utløses. En svivel (6) er satt inn mellom drivenheten (8) og slam- motoren (5), hvor sviveien omfatter, sett i strømningsretningen for slammet, suksessivt anordnede første og andre gjensidig roterbare sviveldeler (16 og 17). Sviveien omfatter dessuten en brems (21) for å motvirke rotasjon av de to sviveidelene i forhold til hverandre. Svivelen omfatter videre en koplings- anordning som er innrettet slik at den kan låse de to sviveldelene (16 og 17) sammen ved å variere strømmen av slam på en forutbestemt måte, og dermed bestemme om boreenheten skal bore rett frem eller endre retning.
