Abstract
En styrbar boreenhet (l) for monter- ing på enden av en borestreng (11) tjener til å bore et horisontalt bore- hull (2) i en undergrunnsformasjon (3). The drilling unit comprises a mud motor (12) and drill bit (4) driven by the mud motor, and has an axis of rotation which forms an angle with the axis of the drilling unit, as well as a self-propelled drive unit (8) for driving the drilling unit mainly in translation in the formation and exert the necessary pressure on the drill bit, where the drive unit is equipped with driven wheels (15) which are pressed against the wall of the borehole by the sludge pressure and which are pulled free from the borehole wall when the pressure is released. A swivel (6) is inserted between the drive unit (8) and the mud motor (5), wherein the swivel includes, in the direction of flow of the mud, successively arranged first and second mutually rotatable swivel parts (16 and 17). The stiffener further comprises a brake (21) to counteract rotation of the two stiffeners relative to each other. The swivel further comprises a coupling device which is arranged so that it can lock the two swivel parts (16 and 17) together by varying the flow of sludge in a predetermined manner, thus deciding whether the drilling unit should drill straight forward or change direction.
