Abstract

A method of introducing long transport pipes underground into the earth, in which a media or product pipe conducting the media and composed of individual pieces arranged one behind the other is jacked into the earth in an essentially horizontal direction from a jacking pit by means of a hydraulic, pneumatic or mechanical jacking device, is to be developed in such a way that longer one-piece pipes can be introduced despite the use of the known jacking devices. To this end, provision is made according to the invention for auxiliary pipes to be introduced into the earth by means of the jacking device. The auxiliary pipes consist of individual sections engaging telescopically one inside the other, the respective initial section being of a length which corresponds to the length which can be achieved with cost-effective and optimum conditions according to the prior art, while the respectively following section is of a length which projects beyond the respectively preceding section by that initial length, the media or product pipe engaging in a string of auxiliary pipes assembled in this way and then projecting in turn beyond the respective last auxiliary pipe section by this initial length. <IMAGE>
