Abstract

Et apparat for fjernmåling av gass og en fremgangsmåte anvender de karakteristiske optiske absorpsjonslinjer for å bestemme mengder av en aktuell gass som kan forekomme i det område som studeres. Apparatet for fjernmåling av gass omfatter en elektromagnetisk strålingskilde (12) som kan innrettes mot det aktuelle området, og et arrangement (14) for oppsamling av lys. Det mottatte lyssignal ledes til en hurtig lysbrytermodulator (10) som modulerer lyssignalet til en første frekvens. Et andre modulerings- arrangement (40) modulerer lyssignalet til den andre freekvens og omfatter en dobbeltbrytende etalonanordning (42) som har en periodisk avstand lik periodisiteten til absorpsjonslinjene for den aktuelle gass. Den andre moduleringsanordning fungerer videre slik at når et elektrisk felt (48) påtrykkes, skiftes transmisjons- spektra tilhørende lyssignalet mellom spektra som sammenfaller med absorpsjonslinjene og spektra som faller mellom absorpsjons- linjene. Deretter kondisjoneres lyssignalet fra etalonanordningen og ledes til en detektorenhet (56) som skiller mellom lyssignalet ved den første frekvens og lyssignalet ved den andre frekvens for å bestemme minst en mengde av den aktuelle gass.
