Abstract

PURPOSE: To remotely measure the parameters such as temperature, pressure or dislocation by providing means for feeding back through an optical fiber the modulated light, which is generated by optically modulating means, as well as a reference light.
CONSTITUTION: A light source 1 produces a light having a wavelength of λ1, and a light source 2 produces a light having a wavelength λ2 outside of the wavelength to be left unmodulated with the use of an optical sensor 7 so that the lights coming from those two systems are mixed in an optical composer 3 and fed to the sensor 7 through an optical fiber 6. The sensor 7 modulates the transmission wave range of the light λ1 in accordance with the temperature to be measured. On the other hand, the light λ2 passes through the sensor section without any modulation as the reference light. Both of those lights λ1 and λ2 are fed back through the fiber 6. At the receiving side, the transmission loss in the transmission system can be detected by the light λ2 so that the signal light λ1 using the detection as the reference is compensated and measured.
