Kjent teknikk Known technique
Today there are closed machines, and especially vending machines, available to people in a large number of public places to increase the availability of products, such as beverages, snacks, cigarettes, etc. The machines are mobile, and can be placed in suitable places in restaurants , shopping malls, parking lots, schools, hotels, and other suitable places. A person can then gain access to the desired products in the machine by selecting which product(s) he/she wants, and the machine delivers the products through a slot after payment has been received or registered, or another payment method that the machine is designed for with.
It is common to arrange the respective products in rows in the machine, where each product has its own row in the machine.
Certain vending machines use a spiral-like mechanism to separate and hold the products in place in the machine. The mechanism is often arranged behind the row with a special product. When the machine is about to deliver a product, the machine activates a mechanism so that a spiral rotates for the particular row for a product unit for a given period of time, and then pushes the products forward in the machine so that the foremost product unit falls out of the row and is led down to a delivery device, such as a hatch.
A disadvantage of this dispensing mechanism is that if the product units and/or the spiral are misaligned/incorrectly positioned, this can result in the product units not being moved sufficiently during the time the spiral is rotating, and the product not being released from the row. This can lead to the spiral getting stuck in the product and the product getting stuck in the machine. This can cause backlash to the alignment of the products backwards in the row if a person manages to loosen the product, since the spiral has to be moved a certain distance. You must then call for assistance or possibly report the malfunction to the owner of the vending machine before the vending machine can be used again.
Another disadvantage of known vending machines is that product units are topped up at the front of the machine, so that it may happen that the rear units are never delivered, and the products age so that they cannot be sold after a while.
For øvrig skal det vises til kjente løsninger eksempelvis fra JP-patentpublikasjon 09050566, US-patentskrifter 3.862.704, 4.600.094 og US-patentsøknad 2002 0190077. Otherwise, reference should be made to known solutions, for example from JP patent publication 09050566, US patent documents 3,862,704, 4,600,094 and US patent application 2002 0190077.
Of these, JP patent publication 09050566 mentions a vending machine, as indicated initially in subsequent claim 1, where the products are stored in sequence one after the other and delivered based on the first-in-first-out (FIFO) principle. US application 2002 0190077 mentions a release mechanism for a vending machine where a frame with a series of hinged plates is movable between a storage and a dispensing position.
Furthermore, US patent 3,862,704 mentions an adapter unit which is used in a vending machine for cigarettes where the cigarettes are arranged in a row where the leading cigarette right is positioned to be taken up in a lift device and a spring-based device transfers the magazine to a dispensing position. US Patent 4,600,094 relates to an automatic vending machine where similar products are stored in rows. These are also fed out according to the FIFO principle mentioned above.
It is therefore an aim of the present invention to provide a completely new system as well as a method for controlling the delivery of product units from a magazine, and which represents a further development of the initially stated solution, and which more accurately and with a reduced risk of malfunctions can handing out product units from the vending machine.

The method according to the invention is characterized by the fact that the products are arranged one after the other in the respective sub-sections, and the number of sub-sections comprises a trigger mechanism comprising a rocker on which the foremost product unit in the sub-section is fully or partially arranged on top, where the method comprises one or more of the following steps: the trigger mechanism receives a control signal for activation, upon activation the tilting member is switched from a holding position to a release position for the foremost product unit which is thereby dispensed, while the tilting member in the release position forms a temporary stop position for the product unit behind the foremost product unit.
According to a preferred embodiment, the tilting member stops in its release position, temporarily for movement of the product units behind the foremost product unit.
According to a preferred embodiment, a tilting member is used in the form of an elongated member, such as a plate, rod, and the like, and a front stop part, and when the system is activated, the tilt member leads the foremost product in the sub-section past the front stop part and on to dispensing, and the rear edge of the rocker member stops the rear products from further movement, and when the system is deactivated, the rocker member guides the rear products in motion to the front stop part.
According to another preferred embodiment, a switch member, such as a solenoid, releases the rocker member for adjustment upon activation of the release mechanism, and together with a spring mechanism, also leads the rocker member back to the starting position when the release mechanism is deactivated.
According to yet another preferred embodiment, the respective sub-sections are equipped with a number of inclined chutes in which the product units are arranged, and to adjust the slope of the chutes in relation to the weight of the respective products.
According to a preferred embodiment, the system and the method are used in a vending machine for dispensing product units, where a user enters the desired product and possibly pays for the product, before the product is dispensed. According to another embodiment, the invention is used in a process plant for managing product flows, such as to regulate the speed of continuous products out on a conveyor belt, into machines, and the like.
An advantage of the present system with the present invention is that the product units are always delivered in the correct order in relation to the order in which they were entered, so that loss of goods due to products that have expired is avoided to a greater extent.
Another advantage of the present invention is that the dispensing mechanism in the system is designed so that products cannot get stuck in the machine during dispensing, which could otherwise prevent further correct functionality and dispensing.
Another advantage of the present invention is that the system can be used for all suitable products, i.e. that the system can store and deliver products of different shapes and sizes in the same way.

Detaljert beskrivelse av figurene Detailed description of the figures
Figure 1a-d shows an exemplary embodiment of the system according to the present invention, seen from different angles. In the system, a product is used which can correspond to a box 12 containing beverages, such as soft drinks, juice or the like. It should be noted that this product is only intended as an example, and that several other types of products can also be fed into the system.
A magazine 14 is divided into a number of sub-sections by means of a number of plates 18, in order to keep the products in the respective sub-sections separate. By magazine is meant a frame or chassis that completely or partially encloses a number of sub-sections and the products inside the respective sub-sections. The width of each sub-section, i.e. the distance between two plates, is adjusted in relation to the respective product's size. In the respective sub-sections, there can be arranged channels 22 that run on each side of the sub-section bordering the plate 18, into which a product can be guided. In Figure 1a, three product units are arranged in each sub-section, but it should be noted that this limited the number is only intended to illustrate, and that the number of product units may vary depending on the magazine's storage capacity. The channels 22 are inclined in relation to the horizontal plane, where the angle of the inclination can be adjusted in relation to the number of products in the sub-section, as well as the type of product. The magazine 14 can be fitted with a rear stop edge 13 to keep the products in place in the magazine 14.
Such an inclined position is advantageous for the products to be guided by gravity in the chutes 22 towards a delivery point. This principle shall be described in more detail with regard to Figure 2.
At one end of the sub-section, i.e. the end where a product is to be released from the magazine 14, a release mechanism is arranged. The trigger mechanism will now be described in more detail with regard to figure 2.
Figure 2a shows the trigger mechanism in a locking position. Blocking means that the system is in a storage state, and blocks the delivery of a product. The release mechanism essentially comprises a switch member, such as an electromechanical device, a spring mechanism 24, and a rocker member 16. The rocker member can be a rod, plate, and the like which can perform a rocker mechanism. In the further description, it will be described with regard to the use of a solenoid 20 as an electromechanical device, but it should be mentioned that other types of known devices can be used which solve the same purpose. A tilting device is also described which comprises a flat surface in combination with a stop part 28.
In the closed position, the foremost product in the sub-section is arranged wholly or partly on the upper surface of the tilting member 16 (the flat plate). The tilting device for dispensing the product is adjusted so that the tilting device front stop part 28 is in a vertical position, and projects upwards in relation to the channels 22, and functions as a stop pin direction.
The tilting member is now in a starting position. The solenoid 20 receives a signal from a control circuit (not shown), which indicates that a product is to be dispensed. This signal affects the force applied to the solenoid's armature, so that the solenoid 20 will then pull backwards in relation to the tilting member 16 for a certain period of time until the tilting member 16 is released and tilted forwards by pivoting about a shaft 26. The system is now in an open position, and is shown in Figure 2b. Due to the inclination of the two chutes 22 in the section, all products arranged on the two chutes 22 will move forward in the dispensing direction by means of gravity. The foremost product will fall over the edge as the tilting member's front part 28 is guided below the surface of the chute (figure 2b) as a result of the tilting member 16 being tilted forward, and the product can be guided/conducted further to delivery. The remaining products in the sub-section will be temporarily stopped by the tilting member's rear edge 25 being tilted upwards.
When the force applied to the solenoid is changed back to the starting point and the solenoid releases, the rocker member 16 will return to the starting position by means of a spring 24 and snap into a locking slot (not shown). The remaining products will now be moved forward, as the rear edge 25 of the tilting member 16 is pushed downwards when the tilting member returns to the starting position.
In order that the pressure on the leading product does not become too great with a large number of products in the sub-section, the channels 22 can be spring-loaded at the rear edge (not shown). This can be advantageous in that the slope of the chutes 22 will increase as the products are released. An almost constant pressure can thus be achieved on the tilting mechanism, and you can have an almost unlimited number of products in the chutes. The inclination can then be adjusted in an adjustable manner with regard to the weight of the various products that are to be delivered.
By adjusting factors such as the force in the solenoid and the angle of inclination of the chutes, the solution according to the invention can be used for all products that have the ability to move forward with the help of gravity. These will mainly be cylindrical products that can roll, but other products will also be able to work.
The number of products that can be stored in the various sub-sections is limited by the magazine's storage capacity. If the magazine is used in a larger vending machine, the number of products is limited based on the vending machine's storage capacity, in that the products can be stored backwards in the vending machine in a similar way as shown in the figures, or the products can also be stored in height before they enter the magazine for delivery.
The system according to the present invention implies that the filling of products to the magazine 14 can take place from the back, so that a first-in-first-out function is achieved, which produces an optimal delivery in relation to the product's shelf life date.
The system can be topped up in several ways. For a vending machine, an alternative could be to top up products through hatches in the vending machine, for example on the outside of the vending machine or behind an outer cover, either on the back or on top of the vending machine. Another option could be, and especially for smaller machines, that the magazine can be pulled out of the machine in whole or in part for filling directly in the magazine. The tracks 16 can then be used to guide the magazine 14 into and out of the machine.
The system can also be used for systems with other purposes, for example for regulating product flows in a processing plant, where the magazine can be used to control the speed of successive products out onto, for example, onto a conveyor belt or to machines, etc.
