Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a device for a box for the transport of fresh produce such as meat, fish, vegetables or the like including a bottom and side walls, possibly including a lid, where drainage channels are arranged inside the bottom for draining liquid such as blood water etc. which is secreted from the fresh produce.
There are previously known boxes for the transport of fish where ice water and blood fluid from the fish are drained out of the box via through holes in the corners between the wall and the bottom of the boxes. With such a solution, the surroundings where the boxes are placed or stored will be contaminated by the drainage liquid from the boxes.
It is also known to arrange a cloth or the like at the bottom of a transport box or similar packaging where the cloth is arranged to absorb liquid that is secreted from the fresh produce. The use of such a cloth represents a more expensive solution due to the additional work involved in inserting and removing the cloth, as well as the fact that the cloth itself constitutes an additional expense. Furthermore, this solution is not hygienically satisfactory in all contexts.
In the applicant's own Norwegian patent no. 162,335, a further known solution is shown where liquid from fresh produce transported in a box is arranged to be collected in the cavity in the double bottom of the box.
With this box, pollution of the surroundings is avoided by the liquid being collected in the double bottom, but the box is not suitable for reuse as it is difficult to wash or clean the inside of the double bottom (the cavity).
With the present invention, a box has been arrived at for the transport of fresh produce in which liquid secreted from the fresh produce is arranged to be collected, but which is at the same time easy to clean and thus hygienic to use. The box is also robust, is good and safe to stack, is inexpensive to manufacture and is very suitable for reuse.
The invention is characterized by pits or depressions that extend from the corners and along the sides, the depressions forming protrusions on the underside of the bottom which serve as control devices when stacking the box on top of another, and at the same time represent a reinforcement of the bottom construction, as stated in the attached claim 1 .
The independent claims 2-4 define advantageous features of the invention.
In what follows, the invention will be described in more detail by means of an example and with reference to the drawings where: Fig. 1 shows, viewed from above, an unfolded blank as the box according to the invention
er dannet av. is formed by.
Fig. 2 viser en kasse dannet av materialemnet vist i Fig. 1, sett i perspektiv mot det ene Fig. 2 shows a box formed by the blank shown in Fig. 1, seen in perspective towards one
hjørnet, delvis ovenfra. corner, partly from above.
Fig. 3 viser den samme kassen sett i perspektiv nedenfra. Fig. 3 shows the same box seen in perspective from below.
Preferably, the box according to the invention can be of a collapsible type of thermoplastic which is particularly suitable for reuse. Such a box is shown and described in more detail in the applicant's Norwegian patent no. 172283. Fig. 1 shows an unfolded material blank 1 of such a box, including a bottom 2 and sides 3, 4, 5, 6 which are hingedly connected to the bottom. At the bottom, inside the box, drainage channels 9 are arranged which open into depressions or pits 8 which are rounded at the corners of the box and extend outwards along the sides. Channels 10 are also arranged between the recesses 8 so that liquid can flow freely between them. This ensures that all the recesses can be filled with liquid to ensure maximum liquid collection capacity. Optionally, instead of channel connections 10 between separately arranged recesses 8 as shown in Fig. 1, a continuous recess may be arranged around the entire case at the sides (not shown). Depending on the area of use, the recess(es) will be able to accommodate a volume corresponding to 2-5% of the box's volume. E.g. for the transport of meat, a box of approx. 40 liters could be provided with recesses that hold from 1 to 1.5 liters of liquid.
One of the purposes of the depressions is, as described above, to be able to "absorb" liquid. Another important purpose is to use the recesses to reinforce the bottom of the box. As can be seen from Fig. 2 and 3, the depressions form downwardly directed beads or projections 11 which extend below the bottom and sides of the box. These beads appear as "corrugations" in the flat bottom and provide increased stiffness and absorption of greater bending stresses in the bottom construction.
The beads also have a third function, namely to serve as support and control devices when stacking the box on top of another. Thus, the beads are designed so that they fit inside and will lie against the inside of the wall in an underlying box. Or if the underlying box has a lid, the beads will be able to fit into recesses in the lid, or rest against protrusions on this (not shown).
