The flushing system allows flushing of well fluids in a subsurface intervention system before being drawn to the surface. The system comprises: a container (44) for storing and discharging cable running tools, the container being exposed to well fluids via the well control package (16); a first fluid communication means (58) coupled between a flushing fluid supply and the well control package; and a second liquid communication means (60) coupled between the container and the well control package, wherein the flushing liquid supplied to the container via the first liquid communication agent during use displaces liquid from the container into the internal liquid communication means and into the well control package.
