Abstract

Flerskrogsfartøy for oppoverrettet isbryting og omfattende sideskrog (102) som i det minste delvis holdes neddykket under fartøyets bruk. Sideskrogene har sin respektive kam (220) på oversiden og holdes neddykket under isen for å bryte opp isen i sjøen, samtidig med at fartøyets neddykking (trim) justeres for en oppoverrettet trimvinkel, slik at baugen skrår noe oppover. Når fartøyet beveger seg forover blir dermed isen løftet opp, og oppbrytingskraften blir konsentrert langs sideskrogenes (102) kam (220). I tillegg til derme kraftpåvirkning hjelpes isbrytingen ved isens egen vekt.
