Abstract
En fremgangsmåte for å syntetisere metanol er beskrevet, omfattende trinnene: (i) å reformere en hydrokarbonføderåvare og separere vann fra den resulterende reformerte gassblandingen for å generere en etterfyllingsgass omfattende hydrogen og karbonoksider, der etterfyllingsgassblandingen har et støkiometrisk tall, R, definert ved formelen R = ([H2] - [CO2]/([CO2] + [CO]), på mindre enn 2,0, (ii) å kombinere etterfyllingsgassen med en ureagert syntesegass for å danne en syntesegassblanding, (iii) å føre syntesegassblandingen ved forhøyet temperatur og trykk gjennom et sjikt med metanolsyntesekatalysator for å generere en produktstrøm omfattende metanol og ureagert syntesegass, (iv) å avkjøle produktstrømmen for å utvinne en rå metanolstrøm fra den ureagerte syntesegassen, (v) å fjerne en del av den ureagerte syntesegassen som en spylegass, og (vi) å mate den gjenværende ureagerte syntesegasse til trinn (ii), kjennetegnet ved at hydrogenet utvinnes fra minst en andel av spylegassen og en andel av etterfyllingsgassen, og det utvunnede hydrogenet omfattes av syntesegassblandingen.
