Abstract
Tunge brennoljer eller restbrennoljer kan stabihseres ved overbasiske magnesiumforbindelser slik som overbasiske magnesiumkarboksylater. Det ble overraskende oppdaget at tilsetning av overbasiske magnesiumkarboksylater til restbrennoljer kort etter termisk krakking, ga meget bedre resultater enn hva som kan oppnås etter tilsetning av karboksylatene til breimoljen etter lagring. Forbindelser som inneholder minst omkring 21 vekt%> magnesium gir også bedre resultater enn forbindelser med 18 vekt% eUer mindre i en ikke-begrensende utførelsesform. Overbasiske magnesiumforbindelser kan også tilsettes koksanleggsmatingsprodukter for å redusere tilstopping av koksanleggovner. Behandling med fremgangsmåtene ifølge oppfinnelsen reduserer asfaltenavsetninger og asfaltenslam.
