A precipitating agent such as a silicate or an aluminum complex (e.g., sodium aluminate) is preferably used in conjunction with the polymer. The water present usually contains a salt to form a salt water, often for saturation, although the invention can be practiced with fresh water. If a salt is used, it is often useful to use a surfactant such as e.g. betaine.
