Abstract
Det beskrives en fremgangsmåte for å bestemme belastningsbalanseringen en ruter som bør anvendes på sine utgående linker for trafikk til hver destinasjon. Den er basert på linkbelastninger. Linkvekter og -lengder av de korteste veiene som beregnes av ordinære IP-rutingsprotokoller anvendes kun for å bestemme de tillatte alternativene for ruting. For å avgjøre belastningsdelingen på de utgående linkene for trafikk til en bestemt destinasjon t anvender en ruter flaskehalsbelastningsverdier for hver av de alternative rutene. Flaskehalsbelastninger beregnes via en spesiell protokoll og starter fra hver destinasjon, slik at de representerer den maksimale linkbelastningen langs en vei og en gjennomsnittsverdi for de maksimale linkbelastningene i tilfellet at en vei deles opp i mer enn en. Parameterne for belastningsdeling blir så oppdatert ved å anvende de beregnede flaskehalsverdiene for å utjevne flaskehalsbelastningene.
