Abstract
Forbedret fremgangsmåte ved fjerning fra et borehull i en underjordisk formasjon av partikkelformig materiale bundet sammen med en herdet fenolharpiks. Materialet kontaktes med en losningsmiddelblanding omfattende en væske valgt fra gruppene: N,N-dimetylformamid, N-metyl-2-pyrrolidon og blandinger derav for en tid som er tilstrekkelig til å skille fra hverandre det partikkelformige materiale, og deretter fjernes det separerte materiale fra borehullet.
Description
Denne oppfinnelse vedrører en fremgangsmåte for fjerning av strømnings-begrensende materiale fra borehull i underjordiske formasjoner som er blitt behandlet med et partikkelformig materiale belagt med en herdbar fenolharpiks.
Underjordiske formasjoner omkring oljebrønner, gass-brønner, vannbrønner og andre lignende borehull blir ofte behandlet med partikkelformig materiale såsom sand som er belagt med en herdbar fenolharpiks. Denne type behandling kan variere, men kan omfatte hydraulisk oppsprekking, konso-lidering med sand, og ferdiggjøring med gruspakning. I disse behandlingene blir det belagte partikkelformige materiale injisert i brønnen og inn i den geologiske formasjonen som omgir borehullet. Det herdbare belegget av fenolharpiks på det partikkelformige materiale blir herdet i formasjonen for å binde det partikkelformige materiale sammen. Dette gir et permeabelt filter som forhindrer små sandpartikler og annet findelt materiale fra å blokkere perforasjonene i brønn-foringen og fra å ødelegge utstyret for pumping og annen håndtering.
Av og til blir et overskudd av det harpiksbelagte partikkelformige materiale pumpet ned i brønnen og fyller borehullet over perforasjonene i foringsrøret. Dersom harpiksbelegget på det partikkelformige materiale herder inne i borehullet, danner det en konsolidert masse som drastisk begrenser væskestrømmen fra brønnen. Når dette hender er det ofte nødvendig å anvende en spesiell borerigg for å fjerne det konsoliderte materiale for å oppnå tilfredsstillende produksjon fra brønnen. En slik fremgangsmåte er både tid-krevende og kostbar.
Vi har nå oppdaget at visse løsningsmidler vil bryte opp det konsoliderte materiale og tillate at det fjernes fra borehullet uten at det blir nødvendig å gripe til den kost-bare boreoperasjonen.
Ifølge foreliggende oppfinnelse tilveiebringes en fremgangsmåte til å fjerne fra et borehull i en underjordisk formasjon partikkelformig materiale som er bundet sammen av en herdet fenolharpiks. Denne fremgangsmåte omfatter å kontakte det sammenbundne partikkel formige materiale med en løsningsmiddelblanding som inneholder en væske valgt fra gruppen N,N-dimetylformamid, N-metyl-2-pyrrolidon, og blandinger av disse for en tid som er tilstrekkelig til å bryte opp det partikkelformige materiale. Det fraskilte materiale blir deretter fjernet fra borehullet.
Som nevnt tidligere blir brønner ofte behandlet med partikkelformig materiale belagt med en herdbar fenolharpiks. De partikkelformige materialene som anvendes til dette formålet, omfatter f.eks. sand, sintret bauxitt, zirkon og glassperler. De herdbare fenolharpikser som anvendes til å belegge det partikkelformige materiale er enten novolak-eller resol-harpikser. Som velkjent i teknologien kan resol-harpiksene herdes og bli harde utelukkende ved hjelp av varme. På den annen side krever novolak-harpiksene at det er til stede et herdemiddel såsom heksametylentetramin for å gjøre dem varm-herdbare.
Når et overskudd av det harpiksbelagte materiale pumpes ned i brønnen, kan det fylle borehullet til et nivå ovenfor perforasjonene i foringsrøret. Dette er kjent i industrien som en screenout. Når en screenout forekommer blir strømningshastigheten fra brønnen betydelig redusert. Dersom harpiksbelegget på det partikkelformige materiale enda ikke har herdet, er det av og til mulig å fjerne overskudds-materialet fra borehullet ved hjelp av en vannstråle. Harpiksbelegget på det partikkelformige materiale kan imidlertid herde på grunn av den forhøyede temperaturen i brønnen. I herdeprosessen vil harpiks som dekker én partikkel tverrbinde seg med harpiks som dekker nærliggende partikler, og derved binde sammen det partikkelformige materiale til en strømnings-begrensende, konsolidert masse. Når dette forekommer er det nesten umulig å fjerne dette strømnings-begrensende materiale med en vannstråle. Det har vært nødvendig å gripe til en kostbar boring for å åpne opp borehullet.
For å praktisere foreliggende oppfinnelse anvendes en løsningsmiddelblanding for å løse opp en del av den herdede harpiksen som binder sammen det partikkelformige materiale. Det løses opp tilstrekkelig harpiks til å forårsake at deri faste massen desintegrerer. Det løsnede partikkelformige materiale kan deretter pumpes ut av brønnen. De fleste av de vanlige løsningsmidlene er ikke egnet for dette formålet. Foreliggende oppfinnelse er basert på den oppdagelse at to væsker, N,N-dimetylformamid og N-metyl-2-pyrrolidon, er i stand til å bryte opp den faste massen.
De løsningsmiddelblandinger som anvendes ved utførelsen av denne oppfinnelse kan være de forannevnte væskene uten fortynning (rene) eller væskene kan fortynnes med fra 1 til 40 vol% av en fortynner. Forskjellige fortynnere, omfattende vann, kan anvendes for dette formålet.
Ved utførelsen av fremgangsmåten ifølge oppfinnelsen pumpes løsningsmiddelblandingen inn i brønnen for å kontakte det materiale som er bundet sammen med den herdede fenolharpiksen. Løsningsmiddelblandingen holdes i kontakt med det strømnings-begrensende materiale i en tid som er tilstrekkelig til å forårsake at dette materiale kan mykne eller brytes opp og bli flytende. Blandingen av løsningsmiddel og flytende materiale blir deretter fjernet fra brønnen ved hjelp av vann eller andre fortrengningsfluider.
De løsningsmiddelblandinger som anvendes ved utførelse av denne oppfinnelse er mest effektive når de holdes i kontakt med det strømnings-hemmende materiale ved temperaturer på fra 40°C til 150°C. Slike temperaturer er vanligvis til stede i de underjordiske formasjonene hvor denne oppfinnelse praktiseres. I visse anvendelser kan det være ønskelig å varme opp løsningsmiddelblandingen før den plasseres i brønnen.
De følgende eksempler illustrerer oppfinnelsen. Det skal forstås at eksemplene bare er illustrerende, og ikke har til hensikt å begrense oppfinnelsen på noen måte. I eksemplene er alle deler og prosentsatser etter vekt dersom intet annet er vist.
Eksempel 1
En oppslemming av harpiksbelagt sand i 2% vandig KC1-løsning ble pakket i polypropylenrør, forseglet og oppvarmet ved 93°C i 24 timer. Dette fikk harpiksbelegget til å herde og binde sammen sandpartiklene slik at det ble dannet en propp på ca. 0,64 x 5 cm. Den harpiksbelagte sanden var ACFRAC CR 20/40, en sand belagt med en herdbar fenolharpiks tilgjengelig fra Acme Resin Corp., Westchester, Illinois. Propper sammensatt av sand som var bundet sammen av sand som var belagt med herdet harpiks, ble kontaktet med N-metyl-2-pyrrolidon ved forskjellige temperaturer, og den tid hvor-etter desintegrering av proppen fant sted, ble observert. Eksperimentene ble gjentatt ved bruk av N-metyl-2-pyrrolidon fortynnet med forskjellige mengder vann. Resultatene i tabell I viser at N-metyl-2-pyrrolidon er i stand til å skille fra hverandre de sammenbundne sandpartiklene, selv når løsningsmidlet er fortynnet med vann.
Eksempel 2
Den generelle fremgangsmåte i eks. 1 ble fulgt, bortsett fra at N,N-dimetylformamid ble anvendt istedenfor N-metyl-2-pyrrolidon. Resultatene gitt i tabell II viser at dette løsningsmidlet, enten rent eller fortynnet med vann, er effektivt til å skille fra hverandre de sammenbundne sandpartiklene.

- Det er således åpenbart at det er tilveiebragt, i sam-svar med oppfinnelsen, en fremgangsmåte til å fjerne strøm-nings-begrensende materiale fra et borehull i en underjordisk formasjon som fullstendig tilfredsstiller hensikten, målene og fordelene fremsatt ovenfor. Selv om oppfinnelsen er be-skrevet i forbindelse med spesielle utførelser av denne, er det åpenbart at mange alternativer, modifikasjoner og variasjoner vil være tilgjengelige for spesialister i denne teknologien i lys av den foregående beskrivelse.. Det er derfor hensikten å innbefatte alle slike alternativer, modifikasjoner og variasjoner som er fremsatt, innenfor ånden og rammen av de vedlagte krav. 1. Fremgangsmåte ved fjerning fra et borehull i en underjordisk formasjon av partikkelformig materiale sammenbundet av en herdet fenolharpiks, karakterisert ved trinn for: å kontakte nevnte partikkelformige materiale, sammenbundet av en herdet fenolharpiks, med en løsnings-middelblanding omfattende en væske valgt fra gruppen bestående av N,N-dimetylformamid, N-metyl-2-pyrrolidon, og blandinger derav for en tid som er tilstrekkelig til å skille fra hverandre det partikkelformige materiale; og fjerne det separerte partikkelformige materiale fra borehullet.
- 2. Fremgangsmåte ifølge krav 1, karakterisert ved at løsningsmiddel-blandingen inneholder fra 1 til 40 vol% av en fortynner.
- 3. Fremgangsmåte ifølge krav 2, karakterisert ved at fortynneren er vann.
- 4. Fremgangsmåte ifølge krav 1, karakterisert ved at det partikkelformige materiale som er sammenbundet med en herdet fenolharpiks, blir kontaktet med løsningsmiddelblandingen ved en temperatur på fra 40 til 150°C.
- 5. Fremgangsmåte ifølge krav 1, karakterisert ved at det partikkelformige materiale er sand.
- 6. Fremgangsmåte ifølge krav 1, karakterisert ved at det partikkelformige materiale er sintret bauxitt.
