Description
Foreliggende oppfinnelse vedrører en vandig borevæske og anvendelse derav for komplettering, stimulering eller overhaling av en hydrokarbonbrønn, ved at væsken innføres i brønnen og holdes nede i hullet ved en temperatur på over 120°C i minst én time.
I mange tilfeller anvendes et viskositetsøkende middel
sammen med en vandig borevæske nede i brønnhull for å øke viskositeten til væsken.
Et problem med væsker i brønnhull er at de kan støte på høye temperaturer, og mange viskositetsøkende midler blir mindre effektive med økende temperatur. Dersom dette skyldes vedvarende forringelse kan væsken være uaksepterbar. Dersom reduksjon i viskositet skyldes termisk fortynning, vil væsken ha behov for en høy viskositet ved brønnhodet for å kompensere for fortynningen, og ofte er det ikke mulig å oppnå tilstrekkelig kompensasjon på denne måte.
Et spesielt problem oppstår i borevæsker som har høy ionekonsentrasjon, f.eks. slike som er belastet med oppløst salt,
pga. at ione-konsentrasjonen utfeller mange av de organiske polymerer som ellers kunne være egnet for anvendelse som viskositetsøkende midler. Noen polymerer blir ikke utfelt og kan således anvendes (eksempelvis hydroksyetylcellulose og xantangummi), men de forringes når de holdes ved høye brønn-temperaturer.
En vandig borevæske i henhold til oppfinnelsen er karakterisert ved at den som et viskositetsøkende middel inneholder 0,1-5 vekt% av en polymer som har gjentagende enheter av kationiske og, eventuelt, ikke-ioniske monomerer og hvor 50-100 mol% av monomeren har formelen
hvor R<1> er hydrogen eller metyl, R<z> er C2_8~alkylen med lineær eller forgrenet kjede som har minst 2 karbonatomer i ryggraden, og R<3> og R<4> er uavhengig av hverandre valgt fra Ci_4-alkyl og eventuelt et tyngemiddel, R<1> er fortrinnsvis metyl, og R<2> er 1,3-propylen og R<3> og R<4> er begge fortrinnsvis metyl. Den foretrukne gjentagende enhet stammer fra dimetylaminopropyl-metakrylamid
(DMAPMA).
De spesifiserte gjentagende enheter av monomeren med formel I foreligger fortrinnsvis i form av et syreaddisjonssalt eller et kvaternært ammoniumsalt. Egnede syreaddisjonssalter blir dannet med organiske eller uorganiske syrer, spesielt svovelsyre eller saltsyre. Egnede kvaterniserende grupper er C^_^-alkyl eller
-hydroksyalkyl, såsom metyl, etyl, propyl eller 2-hydroksy-
etyl, fortrinnsvis metyl eller etyl. Egnede motioner er klorid, sulfat, metylsulfat, acetat og nitrat. Den gjentagende enhet kan f.eks. bli kvaternisert med etylenoksyd eller epiklorhydrin i en syre for å gi et N-(2-hydroksyetyl)-derivat. Foretrukne kvaterniserende forbindelser er metylklorid og dimetylsulfat. Syresaltene (vanligvis med svovelsyre) er vanligvis foretrukket.
Polymeren er fortrinnsvis en homopolymer av den spesifiserte enhet, men den kan være en kopolymer med andre kopolymeri-serbare etylenisk umettede monomerer, vanligvis andre akrylmo-nomerer, under forutsetning av at disse andre monomerer ikke gir noen betydelig forringelse av de krevede egenskaper til polymeren, som omtalt nedenfor. Vanligvis inneholder polymeren minst 50 molprosent, fortrinnsvis minst 80 molprosent, og mest foretrukket minst 90 molprosent av DMAPMA eller annen spesifi-sert enhet. Egnede komonomerer som kan anvendes inkluderer (met)akrylamid, N-vinyl-N-metyl-acetamid, vinyl-pyrrolidon, (met)akrylsyre, diallyl-dimetylammoniumklorid og sure eller kvaternære salter av dialkyl-aminoalkyl-(met)akrylater. Komono-meren er i alminnelighet ikke-ionisk og er vanligvis akrylamid.
Polymeren er vanligvis en lineær polymer som er løselig
i vann og vandige løsninger, og som vil ha en molekylvekt som er tilstrekkelig høy til å gi de ønskede viskositetsøkende egenskaper. Molekylvekten er vanligvis over 1 million.
Mengden av polymeren er fortrinnsvis 0,25-2 vekt% av væsken.
Borevæskene i henhold til oppfinnelsen har den fordel at deres viskositet ikke er så temperaturavhengig som for mange kjente borevæsker, og de kan således anvendes over et bredere område av brønn-temperaturer, og de unngår behovet for overdrevne viskositeter ved brønnoverflaten. De er spesielt effektive når brønn-temperaturen er over 120'C.
Borevæskene kan ha relativt lave ione-konsentrasjoner. De kan f.eks. være boreslam dannet av ferskt vann eller sjøvann (NaCl-konsentrasjon ca. 3,3%), viskositetsøkende middel og suspendert tynge-hjelpemiddel, såsom barytter. Den spesifiserte polymer kan være det viktigste eller eneste viskositetsøkende middel eller det kan være et sekundært viskositetsøkende middel, og f.eks. anvendes i kombinasjon med xantangummi eller betonitt.
Anvendelse av de vandige borevæsker i henhold til oppfinnelsen er av spesiell verdi når de holdes nede i brønnhullet ved over 160°C, i lange perioder, såsom minst 8 timer. Dette er av spesiell verdi når borevæskene har høy ionekonsentrasjon, vanligvis som et resultat av at det i disse er oppløst, som tyngemiddel, metallklorid og/eller -bromid. Spesielt foretrukne vandige væsker i henhold til oppfinnelsen har oppløst kalsiumbromid, men andre nyttige væsker inneholder kalsiumklorid, kalsiumbromid, sinkbromid eller, i noen tilfeller, natriumklorid. Mengden av metallklorid eller -bromid i løsning som et tyngemiddel er vanligvis minst 10 vektprosent, ofte minst 30 vektprosent, og den kan være opptil 7 0 vektprosent, og er ofte i området 45-60 vektprosent. Løsningen er ofte mettet med et klorid- eller bromid-salt.
Disse borevæsker er av verdi for forskjellige formål nede i borehullet såsom tekniske konstruksjonsformål eller for opprett-holdelse av brønnen (i motsetning til utvinningsformål for å tvinge hydrokarbon fra et reservoar, f.eks. skyvevæsker). Væskene blir typisk anvendt som kompletteringsvæsker, stimulasjonsvæsker eller overhalingsvæsker, innbefattet for eksempel perforasjons-væsker, gruspakkingsvæsker, fraktureringsvæsker, ikke-skadende innboringsvæsker for den produserende sone og viskositetsøkende "pill-fluids" - (væske som plasseres lokalt nede i et borehull) - for blokkering av dype soner. Væskene er fortrinnsvis kompletteringsvæsker såsom gruspakkings- og perforerings-væsker. De kan f.eks. anvendes til å inhibere strata-oppløsning, eller til å stabilisere et borehull eller spon som er vann-sensitivt. De gir også redusert væsketap og redusert friksjon.
Borevæsker med høyt ioneinnhold kan også inneholde suspenderte faste stoffer, fortrinnsvis suspensjoner av faste stoffer som lett kan fjernes uten å skade gjennomtrengeligheten til den produserende formasjon, for eksempel suspensjoner av olje-løselige eller syre-løselige faste stoffer så som kalsiumkarbonat eller jernkarbonat. De suspenderte faste stoffer er til stede for det formål å øke densiteten og for å danne filter-kake ved bor-veggene for å redusere filtrat-tap. Når suspenderte faste stoffer er til stede i væsken, gir viskositetsøkende middel forbedret suspendering av de faste stoffer i væsken,
og den resulterende blanding er vanligvis skjærkraft-fortynnende. Blandingen har således relativt lav fluiditet under høy skjærkraft, og dermed lettes dens anbringelse i boret,
mens den under lav skjærkraft får høy viskositet, gode suspenderende egenskaper og god bestandighet mot filtrat-tap.
Væskene i henhold til oppfinnelsen kan også anvendes
ved fremgangsmåter hvorved viskositeten til væsken økes etter at den er blitt innført i brønnen ved delvis tverrbinding av polymeren. Polymerer for anvendelse ved slike fremgangsmåter bør inneholde anioniske enheter som stammer fra en komonomer såsom akrylsyre, vanligvis i mengder på opptil 10 eller 15 molprosent av de totale enheter. Tverrbinding oppnås ved å bringe polymeren i kontakt med et flerverdig metallion, såsom Ti^<+>, Cr^<+> eller Al^+, i brønnen, enten ved å innføre metall-ionet i løsning etter at væsken er blitt innført, eller ved å innføre ionet i en langsomt-frigjørende blanding i selve væsken. Økning av væskens viskositet på denne måte forlenger dens oppholdstid nede i brønnhullet.
Polymerene anvendt ved oppfinnelsen blir fortrinnsvis inkorporert i borevæsken i flytende form, enten som en polymer-løsning eller som en dispersjon av polymerpartikler i olje, ofte i nærvær av et olje-i-vann-emulgeringsmiddel. Løsningen kan dannes ved løsningspolymerisasjon av monomerene, eller ved dispergering av en polymer i en olje-dispersjon i vann eller ved oppløsning av fast polymer i vann. Polymeren blir fortrinnsvis dannet ved nversert-fase-polymerisasjon, dvs. polymerisasjon av en dispersjon i olje av vandig monomer, ofte fulgt av azeotropisk destillasjon av vannet. Om ønskes kan fast polymer separeres fra dispersjonen eller fra en løsning i hvilken den er polymerisert.
En typisk reversert-fase-polymerisasjonsprosess for dan-nelse av et halvsulfat-salt av DMAPMA-homopolymer er som følger: Ikke- vandig fase
Komponentene i den vandige fase blir blandet og pH justert til 6,0 med svovelsyre. Den separate blandede ikke-vandige fase blir så tilsatt og det blir dannet en stabil emulsjon ved blanding med høy skjærkraft. Under denne tid blir blandingen av-oksygenert med nitrogenspyling. 10 ppm med tertiært butyl-hydroperoksyd og 18 ppm med natrium-meta-bisulfitt (begge bereg-net på vandig fase) blir så tilsatt som initiatorer for å starte polymerisasjonen. Etter at polymerisasjonen er fullført blir vannet og det lavtkokende mineralløsningsmiddel fjernet ved azeotropisk destillasjon for å gi en dispersjon med 50% polymer i olje. 1 hvert av de følgende eksempler ble denne dispersjon blandet inn i en vandig borevæske som har de andre spesifiserte komponenter.
EKSEMPEL 1
For å bestemme viskositeten til en borevæske med høyt ione-innhold som ble holdt ved høye temperaturer i lange tidsperioder, ble viskositeten iakttatt for 52 prosentig kalsiumbromid-løsning aldret ved 160°C i 16 timer med varierende mengder av polymeren. Polymer-konsentrasjonen er nedskrevet i tabell 1 som prosent vekt/volum, og viskositeten er nedskrevet i cP ved en skjærverdi på 160 sek \
Med en 55 prosentig løsning av en 1:1 kalsiumbromid:sinkbromid-løsning øket viskositeten ved skjærverdien 160 sek ^ fra 15 cP ved 160°C i 16 timer i fravær av polymer til 180 cP i nærvær av 1% polymer.
Som en sammenligning med verdiene i tabell 1 ble det tilsatt forskjellige mengder av andre polymerer med en konsentrasjon på 0,85% vekt/volum og det ble aldret ved forskjellige temperaturer, og deres viskositeter ble så nedskrevet, som vist i tabell 2.
Verdiene vist i tabell 2, spesielt sammenlignet med de verdier som er vist i tabell 1, viser klart overlegenheten til DMAPMA-polymeren.
EKSEMPEL 2
Målinger av filtrat-tap ved lavt trykk ble foretatt i
samsvar med API RP 13B standard-metoder for å bestemme væske-tapet for 52 prosentig kalsiumbromid-saltløsning (15 ppg) som var fri for polymer, og den tilsvarende saltløsning som inneholdt polymer. For saltløsningen som var fri for polymer ble
det et totalt filtrat-tap i løpet av 65 sekunder. Saltløsningen som inneholdt 1% vekt/volum med polymer hadde et 30 minutters filtrat-tap på bare 50 ml.
EKSEMPEL 3
En suspensjon av 550 ppb av kalsiumkarbonat i kalsiumbromid-saltløsning (52 prosentig) har en viskositet på 723 cP og et filtrat-tap som viser totalt volumtap på 20 sekunder. Suspensjonen er ustabil med hensyn til bunnfelling etter en kort tidsperiode.
En tilsvarende suspensjon med nærvær av 0,5% av additivet på basis av saltløsningsvolumet gir en ønsket redusert viskositet på 252 cP med et 30 minutters filtrat-tap på bare 28 ml. Suspensjonen er stabil overfor bunnfelling i lange tidsperioder. De reologiske egenskaper forbedres med nærværet av additivet ved at væsken blir mer passende skjærkraft-fortynnende. Dette er et forbedret anvendelsesforhold, dvs. det fremviser lav viskositet for å gi forbedret lett anbringelse under forhold med høy skjærkraft, men gir suspenderende egenskaper og bestandighet mot filtrat-tap ved høy viskositet under forhold med lav skjærkraft. Dette er vist i tabell 3 som viser virkningen av polymeren på viskositeten (cP) ved to skjærkraftverdier.
De ovenfor angitte fordeler opprettholdes endog etter aldring ved 160°C i 16 timer.
Claims (15)
1. Vandig borevæske, karakterisert ved at den omfatter, som viskositetsøkende middel, 0,1-5 vekt% av en polymer dannet av gjentagende enheter av kationiske og, eventuelt, ikke-ioniske monomerer og hvor 50-100 mol% av monomeren har formelen
hvor R<1> er hydrogen eller metyl, R<2> er C2_8~alkylen med lineær eller forgrenet kjede som har minst 2 karbonatomer i ryggraden,
og R<3> og R<4> er uavhengig av hverandre valgt fra C1_4-alkyl og eventuelt et tyngemiddel.
2. Væske i henhold til krav 1, karakterisert ved at polymeren har en molekylvekt på minst én million.
3. Væske i henhold til krav 1 eller 2, karakterisert ved at R<1> er metyl, R<2> er 1,3-propylen og R<3> og R<4> er hver metyl.
4. Væske i henhold til hvilket som helst av de foregående krav, karakterisert ved at de gjentagende enheter av monomeren med formel I er i form av et syreaddisjons- eller kvaternært -ammonium-salt.
5. Væske i henhold til hvilket som helst av de foregående krav, karakterisert ved at polymeren er en polymer av 50-100 mol% monomer av formel I med 0-50 mol% akrylamid.
6. Væske i henhold til hvilket som helst av de foregående krav, karakterisert ved at polymeren er en polymer av 80-100 mol% monomer av formel I med 0-20 mol% akrylamid.
7. Væske i henhold til hvilket som helst av de foregående krav, karakterisert ved at polymeren er en polymer av 90-100 mol% monomer av formel I med 0-10 mol% akrylamid.
8. Væske i henhold til hvilket som helst av de foregående krav, karakterisert ved at polymeren er en homopolymer av monomeren av formel I.
9. Væske i henhold til hvilket som helst av de foregående krav.karakterisert ved at den også omfatter et oppløst tyngemiddel som er et klorid- eller bromidsalt av et metall og som er til stede i en mengde av mer enn 10 vekt%.
10. Væske i henhold til krav 10,
karakterisert ved at tyngemidlet er valgt blant kalsiumklorid, kalsiumbromid, sinkbromid og natriumklorid.
11. Væske i henhold til krav 10 eller 11, karakterisert ved at mengden av det oppløste klorid eller bromid er større enn 30 vekt%.
12. Væske i henhold til hvilket som helst av kravene 10-12 , karakterisert ved at det oppløste klorid eller bromid er. i det vesentlige mettet i væsken.
13. Anvendelse av vandig borevæske i henhold til krav 1-12, for komplettering, stimulering eller overhaling av en hydro-karbonbrønn, ved at væsken innføres i brønnen og holdes nede i hullet ved en temperatur på over 120'C i minst én time.
14. Anvendelse i henhold til krav 13, hvorved væsken holdes nede i hullet i minst 8 timer.
15. Anvendelse i henhold til krav 13 eller 14, hvorved temperaturen holdes på minst 160'C.
