Description
Zirkoniumlegering.
Foreliggende oppfinnelse angår legeringer som. er egnet for bruk i et vandig
medium ved høy temperatur, og særlig for
bruk i kjernereaktorer av den type hvor
det anvendes trykkvann eller kokende
vann.
Det er blitt vist at zirkoniumlegeringer
som inneholder tinn har god motstands-evne mot korrosjon i vann og damp ved
høy temperatur. Tidligere arbeid i forbin-delse med zirkoniumlegeringer inneholdende kopper har vist at slike legeringer
har en høy grad av filmstabilitet under
disse korrosjonsbetingelser, selv om opp-rinnelig deres vektøkninger er litt høyere
enn ekvivalente legeringer inneholdende
tinn.
Det er imidlertid blitt funnet at når
det kreves lang utsettelse for et vandig
medium, gir zirkonium som er legert med
kopper og tinn langt bedre korrosjonsmot-standsegenskaper sammenlignet med zirkonium legert med bare tinn eller med
andre legeringer av zirkonium.
En legering ifølge oppfinnelsen består
av zirkonium med fra 0,75 til 1,25 pst. kopper og fra 0,25 til 0,75 pst. tinn, beregnet i
vekt.
En foretrukket legering ifølge foreliggende oppfinnelse er den som inneholder
1,0 pst. kopper og 0,5 pst. tinn, idet resten
er zirkonium, med unntagelse av forurensninger som kan inneholdes i det svamp -
zirkonium hvorfra legeringen fremstilles.
Som et eksempel på den forbedrede korrosjonsmotstand for legeringene ifølge oppfinnelsen angis følgende: En legering kjent som Zircaloy-2, og bestående av 1,3—1,6 pst. tinn, 0,07 — 0,2 pst. jern, 0,05 — 0,15 pst. krom og 0,03 — 0,08 pst. nikkel med resten zirkonium ga når det ble utsatt for damp ved et trykk på en atmosfære og ved en temperatur på 500° C, en vektøkning på 7,8 mg/cm<2 >etter 450 timer. I motsetning til dette viste en zirkoniumlegering som inneholdt 1,0 pst. kopper og 0,5 pst. tinn, når den ble utsatt for de samme betingelser i samme tidsrom en vektøkning på bare 1,2 g/cm<2>. Dette eksempel viser at korroisjonsmot-standsevnen for den forbedrede legering er omtrent syv ganger bedre enn for den kjente legering.
Claims (2)
1. Zirkoniumlegering, karakterisert ved at den består av 0,75 — 1,25 vektsprosent kopper, 0,25 — 0,75 vektsprosent tinn og resten zirkonium, bortsett fra uunngåelige forurensninger.
2. Legering ifølge påstand 1, karakterisert ved at den inneholder 0,5 vektsprosent tinn og 1,0 vektsprosent kopper.
