Abstract

Traditional asphalt has certain characteristics, for example stability Pm, flow Fm, quotient Qm. My invention relates to the incorporation of plastic waste into asphalt. Studies show that incorporation of plastic waste into asphalt produces asphalt having better characteristics than asphalt into which no plastic waste has been incorporated. The stability value Pm, depending on the concentration (%) of plastic waste is generally 3 to 4 times better. At the same time, my invention has beneficial environmental aspects, namely the utilization of (plastic) waste and savings in natural raw materials (for example sand).

VERWERKING VAN KUNSTSTOFAFVAL IN ASFALTPROCESSING OF PLASTIC WASTE IN ASPHALT

Mijn uitvinding betreft het verwerken van kunststofafval in asfalt. De zo verkregen mengsel, zie toelichting verderop, van kunststofafval in asfalt heeft betere kwaliteitseigenschappen dan het "traditionele" asfalt.My invention concerns the processing of plastic waste in asphalt. Op grond van Marshall-proeven (Zie uitgave nr 2 van Vereniging tot Bevordering van Werken in asfalt.) is een bereidingsmethode vastgesteld. Het kunststofafval moet koud worden toegevoegd, nadat het verwarmde mineraalaggregaat en bitumen 90 s is gemengd. Pm = Marshall-stabiliteit, Fm = Marshall-vloei.Asphalt without plastic waste: Pm = 3000 @ 5000 N, Fm = 1.5 @ 2.5 mm. Asphalt with 5% V / V (volume by volume) addition of plastic waste: Pm = 12000 @ 16000 N, Fm = 2 @ 2.5 mm. Pm = Marshall stability, Fm = Marshall rolling.
