The invention relates to an electromagnetic detection and identification system for vehicles, in which, for the purpose of reading out, programming of the identification label, if any, use is made of a transmitter / receiver which generates an electromagnetic field, which in the presence of a vehicle induces a current in the metal parts of openings, such as windows and doors, of vehicles, through which a second electromagnetic field is generated around the metal parts, as a result of which the original electromagnetic field generated by the transmitter / receiver concentrates, and the identification label, which is mounted in the vicinity of the said metal parts, can be identified over a greater distance or can be programmed at your option.
Electromagnetic detection and identification systems, including those of the applicant, are known for identifying people, animals and goods. The identification of said objects can be used for the purpose of granting or not granting access, feeding animals and monitoring and monitoring logistics processes.
The basic principle of the applicant is laid down in patent 176404 and consists of the following. An electromagnetic alternating field is generated by a transmitter / receiver. The identification labels, also called responders, in principle contain an electronic circuit consisting of a resonant circuit with an encoder. If the responder is brought into the alternating electromagnetic field, the resonant circuit will resonate. The responder circuit is capable of extracting electrical energy from the field by means of rectifiers. This energy is used to generate a code that can be identified through the same coil and the same alternating electromagnetic field by the transceiver. With such identification systems, taking into account the emission limit values that apply in the various countries, a detection distance of approximately 90 cm can be achieved. The objection of the current systems is that for a number of applications the distance mentioned is insufficient or even detection is impossible. For example, when admitting persons who are located in vehicles, detection is in principle not possible, since the vehicle is almost entirely electromagnetically shielded by the metal construction ( cage of Faraday). Furthermore, if identification is nevertheless possible, the detection distance would be insufficient to allow the vehicle identification application to function properly in practice.
The object of the invention is to obviate said drawbacks. For this purpose, use is made of an antenna with a size of, for example, 4 x 1 m, which is coupled via a bar of the vehicle to a responder located in the vicinity of the said bar. An electromagnetic alternating field is generated by the transmitter / receiver. The generated field lines induce a current along the metal parts of openings, such as windows and doors, of vehicles. If now a resonant circuit responder is placed in the vicinity of an arrow, the induced current, which concentrates in the bar, will be exhausted. in turn generate an electromagnetic field in the resonant circuit. The electromagnetic field of the transmitter / receiver will, due to the existence of a second field, concentrate.
The electromagnetic field of the transceiver can also change shape by using a metal base plate that is partially positioned longitudinally under the vehicle. If the electromagnetic field is generated by the transceiver, some of the magnetic field lines will be concentrated towards the vehicle due to the presence of the bottom plate.
By applying the above, the responder, now from a more concentrated electromagnetic field, can obtain more electrical energy from that field to generate a code which is also conducted to the transceiver via the same electromagnetic field. Due to the more concentrated electromagnetic field, a larger detection distance can be bridged than the usual 90 cm. The invention will be explained schematically in more detail with reference to Figures 1 to 3.
Figure 1 shows a transmitting antenna 1 with vehicle 2. The field lines 3 of transmitting antenna 1 run to the vehicle 2. The vehicle 2 is located in the electromagnetic field of the transmitting antenna. As a result, a current flows into the metal parts of openings (such as windows and doors) of vehicle 2 which are not indicated, and the presence of openings causes a bundling of flows. In addition, a metal bottom plate 9 is provided, which ensures that the field formed by the antenna concentrates in the direction of the vehicle.
Figuur 2 geeft weer een praktijkopstelling. Antenne 1 is naast hetvoertuig aangebracht. Figure 2 again shows a practical setup. Antenna 1 is fitted next to the vehicle. As a result of the generated electromagnetic field, a current i flows in window 4 and door 5. Bottom plate 9 is again provided to effect a concentration effect for the electromagnetic field.
Figure 3 shows a responder 7 with bar 6. The current i in bar 6 will generate an alternating electromagnetic field 8. Since responder 7 is located in the vicinity of the bar, the resonant circuit of the responder will be coupled to the electromagnetic field of the bar. If the responder 7 is positioned such that maximum coupling is achieved for the application, the absorption of electrical energy will be relatively large. When used on vehicles, the responder 7 will be arranged in order to function optimally in the vicinity of the intersection between bar and roof or bar and door.
Finally, it is important for the invention in vehicles that the transmitting antenna is positioned such that the current flows optimally through the bars.
