Abstract

The digital linear delta modulator device is pref. for use in telecommunications systems. The modulator converts a digital signal consisting of multiple bits into an output signal containing single bits only. A pulse code modulated signal input is applied to a digital counter (1) the output of which serves as input to a digital integrator (2). The integrator output is applied to a totaliser (3) which feeds a pulse generator (4), this is controlled by a clock pulse generator (5) and also fed back to digital counter (1) via multiplier (7).
