Abstract

The system stabilises erodable sea- or river bed sediment. A suspension, comprising a non-hardening paste-type or colloidal matrix material containing solid particles, it deposited directly on the sediment to be stabilised. The suspension can be pumped via a underwater pipe (17) to a movable deposition head (21), by which it is distributed. The matrix material can be flocculated before mixing with the particles, and mixing operation taking place immediately before pumping. Sludge or clay can be used as the matrix material, and the particles can be of stone or gravel.
