Abstract

The variable-ratio transmission unit incorporates a pair of gears, one with external and the other with internal teeth, meshing together. One gear has a complete set of teeth, and the other, preferably the internally-toothed one (B), only a small number, with toothless gaps between them. The later teeth are adjustable, so that their respective gear can be set to a number of different diameters. The adjustable teeth can work in guides on the gear body, so as always to be at the same radius, while the centre distance between the gears varies corresponding to the teeth radius.
