Abstract

A device for sepg. the fluid constituents from a mass of dregs, sludge or pulped material such as sugar beet residues, etc., has a frame supporting a cylindrical reservoir. Inside the reservoir there is a coaxial, rotating transporter screw, enclosed by a liner cylinder, the wall of which is covered by perforations for the passage of the sepd. liq. Within the inner cylinder there is a pref. central feed, and a pref. central drain, fitted with a valve for drawing off the solid material freed from the liq. Outside the inner cylinder, there is a drain for wasting the sepd. fluid. The axis of rotation of the device is arranged vertically and the central feed is positioned at the top of the reservoir. The outlet for the densified material is located centrally around the transporter screw at the bottom of the reservoir. The transporter screw is formed by a central supporting cylinder around the mantel of which the blades are fixed. The height of the blades is less than half the dia. and pref. 1/15 of the dia. of the support cylinder.
