Abstract

The equipment limits the emission of pollutants from diesel engines equipped with turbochargers and devices limiting smoke on acceleration, the latter restricting the quantity of fuel injected in proportion as charge air pressure is reduced in the intake. In the charge air piping to the device is a valve controlled by a speed switch on the engine. Below the speed which can be set on the switch the valve connects the charge air chamber to atmosphere, while above this speed it causes the charge air pressure to be transmitted in full to the chamber of the device.
