Abstract

The steerable ships screw comprises a housing(4) containing the screw(5) with blades adjustable via a central shaft (6), a steering column secured to the housing and containing a coaxial screw drive shaft, and a tubular carrier around the column. A screw blade position indicator is provided and comprises a movable linkage (12) extending from the housing(4) through the column into the space between the column and carrier. The linkage is at one end coupled via a lever(13) and fork to a ring(14) on the shaft(6) whilst the other end is coupled via a fork lever to a ring slidable on the column.
