Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce steering force by providing a servo rudder to be operated through a steering interlocking mechanism at a part of a propelling device, so as to generate a force assisting the steering force upon steering. CONSTITUTION:An outboard motor body 1 is supported to a swivel shaft 6 rotatably mounted to a stern bracket 7. The stern bracket 7 is fixed to a transom 8 of a boat B. A steering handle 9 is fixed to an upper end of the swivel shaft 6. A lower end of the steering handle 9 is fixed to one end of a link 13 surrounding an upper casing 12. The other end of the link 13 is rotatably connected through a pin 14 to one end of a lever 15. The other end of the lever 15 is fixed to a shaft 17 of a servo rudder 16. When a steering force is applied to the handle 9 during cruising of the boat, the link 13 is rotated about the swivel shaft 6, and the servo rudder 16 is rotated through the pin 14 and the lever 15 in a direction counter to a rotative direction of the link 13.
