Abstract

Symbols may be etched into the surface of e.g. a vehicle window, by using a rectangular support plate with chamfered edges. In the ensuing space between pane and support is inserted a flexible gauge screen with imprinted symbols. From a tube containing a pasty etchant, the symbol area is filled to the required depth and width. A detachable doctor blade may be screwed onto the tube nozzle in order to distribute the etchant into the required place.
