Abstract

The capstan winch has a drum rotating on an upright, and a hand-operated drive shaft passing through the upright and equipped with one or more gears to transmit movement to the drum. Above drum and upright is a guide mechanism leading the free rope end away, equiped with a rope pulley and guide hook with discharge lip. The upright and the drum are extended upwards, there being a collar (15) on the extended portion of the drum (2). The rope pulley (16) between the collar and the drum top is spring-loaded, and the guide hook (21) with lip is fixed to the extended part of the upright (12). There can be a number of recesses (18), each accommodating a spring (19), formed in the drum top face.
