Abstract

In the parent patent, the active ingredient is a water-soluble complex of 2-(4-thiazoly)benzimidazole (TBI) and glycolic acid (GA). The improvement comprises including >=1 other active ingredient selected from complexes of GA with nitrogen bases. The other active ingredient is pref. a GA complex of 8-hydroxyquinoline (HQ). The compsns. are esp. useful as seed dressings, e.g. for protecting seed potatoes from attack by fungi and bacteria. They can also be used to treat harvested fruit and vegetables (e.g. citrus fruits, bananas and sugar beet). Compsns. in which the other ingredient is an 8-hydroxyquinoline/GA complex can be used to be used to extend the life of cut flowers in water. The compsns. have a broader activity spectrum than the parent compsns.
