Abstract
Hypolipidaemic agents contain a p-benzylamino benzoic acid of formula (I) (where n is 0 or an integer 1-3; R is halogen, trihalomethyl, 1-10C alkyl(thio) or alkoxy, OH, carboxy, 5-10C cycloalkyl, 2-5C alkenyl(oxy), benzyl(oxy), Ph, PhO, amino, NO2 or di-1-5C alkylamino; and R' is H or 1-5C alkyl). (I) are new when n is an integer 1-3; and R is not trihalomethyl or NO2; providing that when R is amino or dimethylamino, n is 2; when R is MeO and n is 1, MeO is meta, and when R is MeO as well as OH, n is 3 and the third substit. on the ring is not propyl. (I) and salts can be administered parenterally or pref. orally. Daily dose is 1-400 (pref. 5-30) mg/kg body wt. (I) is specifically 4-(m-methoxybenzyl)-amino)-benzoic acid.
