Abstract

The automatic acoustic and optical vehicle alarm system protects both vehicles against theft and taxi-drivers from assault. The vehicle battery is used as the power source, and the horn as the acoustic source. The horn can be arranged to emit a specific signal, consisting of a number of short signals, directly followed by a long one lasting three or four seconds, and then repeated. Means can also be provided to sound the horn at a set time after a particular circuit is energised. An operational amplifier can determine the difference between a reference voltage and the actual battery voltage. There can be a press-button beside the drivers seat, remaining activated once pressed. The system can be arranged so that the alarm can only be silenced by a switch outside the vehicle.
