Abstract

The composite wire comprises a number of oblong electrically conductive components and is for use with a security fence. Two at least of the components are separated from each other by a thin insulating layer, so that if a pressure is exerted on the composite wire at least either the resistance or the capacity between the components alters by a measurable amount. There can be a central conductor wire enclosed by a thin layer of insulating material, and a number of other wires wound round it. The wires insulated from each other can be connected to an alarm circuit, and the wires stretched between posts can be coupled to movement detectors.
