Abstract

The flexible coupling between a driving and a driven member, has flanges (1, 2) fixed to the driving and driven members and an elastic assembly formed by loops of wire rope (6). This is mounted between the flanges and distorts under the effect of force or torque. The distortion is entirely angular, the other dimensions remaining unaltered, so that the complete unit resumes its original shape immediately the load is removed. There can be rib-shaped components (5) on the one flange and trough-shaped ones (3) on the other, the ribs fitting in the troughs, while one or more rope loops (6a) are fitted between each rib side and the flange of the trough opposite.
