Abstract

Determination of the settling period of a blood sample, taken from a patient and made non-coagulating. The blood is placed in a long vertical tube and the height in the column with the absence of any red blood cells is determined after a given period. The blood sample is collected directly in a holder (4) which contains a reagent to prevent the blood from coagulating. A given amount of blood is then sucked into the measuring tube (1) by means of a piston (6) inserted at one end. The ID of the tube is very accurately known and the blood is sucked to a given height. The blood container is vigorously stirred before transferring the content to the tube. Blood has not to be poured several times.
