Abstract

A horizontal rotating drum is supported and driven by >=1 endless chain. This passes under the drum and over a drive wheel. No gear teeth are attached to the drum where the chain contacts it. Used for handling solids or liquids, esp. for drying and cooling mould sand and cooling castings. The weight of the drum and contents prevent slipping of the drive chain and the construction is simpler and cheaper if no gear teeth are needed.
