Abstract
fluorination of catalysts in fixed beds with provision of a constant or variable fluorine displacement (SA= wt. % of added fluorine not absorbed by the bed), opt. in combination with a positive temp. gradient along the bed, in which (a) average value of SA is >=10 wt.% (b) the opt. temp. gradient (G) is =30 degrees C., (c) the product of SA and G is =1000, (d) where SA is 40 wt.%, G is >=300/SA, and (e) where SA is >=40 but 50, G is >=3/4 (50-SA). Used for activation of catalysts for catalytic conversion of hydrocarbon fractions at elevated temps. and pressures in presence of hydrogen. a more uniform distribution of fluorine through the catalyst is achieved, with ratio of F content at the end of the bed to that at the beginning of 0.5-1.5:1.
