Abstract

Appts. for forming a knot in a binder string or tape tied around an article or assembly of articles, comprises (a) a bird's heat knotting element with a beak, capable of being rotated axially over more than one complete revolution; (b) clamps for clamping the string on one side of the knotting element or head and guide means on the other side thereof for holding the string so firmly that it can only be displaced in the direction of the head; and (c) means for bringing about a relative displacement between the head on the one hand and the clamp and guide elements on the other hand, for drawing the end of the string clamped in the beak through the loop formed by axial rotation of the head. Appts. is partic. useful for transversely tying upp bundles of elongated parts or wound prods. such as pipes or hoses.
